President (Acting Communications Director/Secretary) - Amanda Sokol (4th year serving on the Board) Amanda enjoyed a successful career in design and owned her own business for many years, but as a life-long volunteer, always felt she could be doing more for the community. This led her to pursue a career in the non-profit sector. After graduating from the Voluntary Sector Management program, her first job was a one-year research project for MacEwan University examining youth volunteers and service learning. A contract looking at volunteer recognition with EFCL was next, followed by 8 years as a Coordinator of Volunteers, Marketing and Communications, and Special Events at a Parent Link Centre. Amanda spent 2 years as the Program Coordinator for Volunteer Edmonton and 2 years as the Manager of Community Involvement for Autism Edmonton. She is the Sole Proprietor of Goose Troop – a website dedicated to helping volunteers have meaningful community engagement and a consulting business for non-profits. She is currently designing the volunteer program for the Pride Centre of Edmonton. Amanda volunteers teaching English to newcomers at CCI-LEX. She lives an active life in Mill Woods with her husband, daughter, son and 2 rotten cats.
Past President - Jeffory Magson (3rd year serving on the Board) Jeffory is the Associate Director for Patron Development (and former Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager) at the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Francis Winspear Centre for Music. Originally from Lethbridge, he studied Drama at Keyano College in Fort McMurray, then went on to study Cultural Management at the University of Waterloo. He has spent his time at the ESO building up the Volunteer Program from about a dozen volunteers doing one or two specific duties to over 100 volunteers in four different programs. He started a volunteer program from scratch for the YONA Sistema program, which creates social change through music education in Edmonton's Inner City. Jeffory lives in the northeast with his wife and 2 children and is very excited about the work being done with VMG.

Treasurer - Donna Woodford (9th year serving on the Board) Donna has over twenty years’ experience as both an employee and a volunteer in the non-profit sector within the communities of Edmonton and Sturgeon County. For the past eight years she has been the Community Development Coordinator at the Military Family Resource Centre. Prior to this, she worked as the Coordinator of Volunteers for the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Alberta Diabetes Foundation, Partners for Youth, the Good Samaritan Society, the Minerva Senior Studies and Operation Friendship. Donna holds a Bachelor of Applied Human Service Administration, and she has completed the Voluntary Sector Management Program in all 3 majors: Non-Profit, Fundraising and Volunteer Management from Grant MacEwan University. She has served on a number of boards including VMG, Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations, Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues, and Lauderdale Community League. Donna’s main passion is strengthening the voluntary sector for volunteer managers and volunteers, building capacity in the non-profit sector and making it a better place to serve communities.

Membership Director - Barb Carroll (3rd year serving on the Board) Barb has been with Sage Seniors Association for over seven years. She initially began her career at Sage as the Home Services Coordinator before transitioning to her current position as Volunteer and Human Resources Coordinator. Barb works with over 200 volunteers who provide support to the various programs at Sage. Barb moved with her two daughters to Edmonton from Slave Lake in 2005 and worked in the health care sector for over six years. Barb lives in southwest Edmonton and enjoys reading, gardening, brisk walks and has a passion for scrapbooking.

Member At Large - Valda Roberts (1st year serving on the Board) With a diploma in Voluntary Sector Management from McEwan in 1989, Valda started her Volunteer Management career with the Works Visual Arts Festival. This introduction into the growing Edmonton arts scene led to contracts in film and video festivals, television conferences, an international women’s health conference in the Philippines, and a spell in the live theatre realm. An avid volunteer, Valda gives her time to the North Country Fair, Edmonton Folk Music Festival, Arts on the Avenue and Skirts A Fire. She has just taken on the role as a director of a choir that sings to those who are passing and on the threshold of life. Her current position as Administrative/Volunteer Coordinator with Community Options- A Society for Children and Families keeps this well-rounded gal involved in early childhood education and community services in the Inglewood neighborhood. Valda is looking forward to working with her peers on the VMG Board as a member at large. Member At Large - VACANT
